60/40, or something else?
Traditional advice says 60% stocks and 40% bonds. Don't take anyone's word for it, including mine. Test any mix on real history.
The idea: 60/40
A 60/40 portfolio puts 60% in stocks (owning pieces of companies) and 40% in bonds (loans that pay you interest). Once a year you rebalance: sell a little of what grew and buy what shrank, so you're back to 60/40. Bonds are meant to soften the bad years. Check whether they did.

Past results, not a forecast, and not a recommendation for any mix. Rebalanced once a year. Stocks are the S&P 500 with dividends; bonds are 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds. Bitcoin has had years of +1,300% and −73%; a small slice can move the whole result. Fees and taxes are left out. Education, not financial advice.
